Refresh, Reset, Renewed: Soft Corners Looks at Year THREE

23 months ago, we opened Soft Corners with a few goals in mind: to create a creative haven of inspiration; to showcase artists and authors whose work we believe in; and to offer flexible, rentable space to communities across New Mexico. For the last nine months, we've poured energy into re-designing the space, meeting more artists and writers, and connecting with Albuquerque's larger creative and entrepreneurial communities. Looking toward year three, we're rolling out some of our own fresh, new events, starting with our Open Houses.

Join us September 17 for our very first public Open House

It won't be the same without YOU!

What to Expect? No pressure. Creative endeavors to explore; plus, feel welcome to bring your own project to work on. Light refreshments. Engaging conversation, and space to engage with yourself. Gorgeous art, interesting people, and a delightful Thursday evening kick off to the Fall Equinox.

We'll have art supplies at the ready, and we invite folks to bring a poem - one you wrote or one by a poet you admire - to share out loud. We intend to host Open Houses every other month, and how they develop depends largely on you!

Rapt conversation - we love it!

We so hope you'll join us so we can set the tone together!

See you September 17th!

Submissions for Art after Dark close Sept 10th, we let you know by Sept 15th, and we'll give artists ample opportunity to drop off work.

Work for sale and not-for-sale is welcome. Writer with a book? Let us know so we can talk with you about selling your book on-site.

We cannot wait to see what YOU create and have in store for our inaugural erotic art show! Art after Dark will open on Saturday, Oct 10. Opening Night will run 5pm to 8pm, and the show will close on Friday, Oct 30th.

Questions welcome! This is our first time at this Erotic Art Show Rodeo, and we welcome community input and support.

July saw us say good-bye to three gorgeous works of art! Two went to one happy buyer:

Vacation Spot by Estevan Zamora - SOLD!
Chroma Chameleon by Greta Stockebrand - SOLD

Then, one of our long-time in-house artists supported one of our newer in-house artists:

Tippi with one of Greta Stockebrand's minis: Olly, Olly Octopus!

Most recently, we hung new work by Tippi Hunter and Harley Kirschner. We'd love to show you ALL of it in person! Ping us to schedule a private viewing. Prefer to text or call? We're old school, and we love not only texts but also phone calls: 505.355.5711.

Here's a teaser of the new work we've hung:

NEW at the Gallery: Fuchsia Freedom by Tippi Hunter

This small abstract is among of our favorites by Tippi. We love how it invites both introspection and a global view. What do you see?

Tell us ... we can't wait to see you and hear from you!

By the way, we now host part of The People's Library-ABQ. Head Librarian Fiadh Leigh carefully chose 20 books for Soft Corners. Come in: we'll make you a mug of tea, you'll peruse the art, feel inspired, settle in for a bit with a book ... and take it home to read in full! We trust you to return it when you're done.

Need space? We remain committed to our two guiding principles: privacy and ambience. We'd love to host that meeting you need total privacy for, or that gathering you need a warm, inviting space for. Rates and options are updated on our site.

Most critically: we don't mess with what you're doing at Soft Corners. That event you've had trouble finding the right spot for? If you've got up to ~40 guests, hit us up. We love being judgment-free and full of vibes.

Local author M.E. Gamlem with Melissa Ferrick, setting up for sound check at our 2025 Melissa Ferrick concert - yes, we have great acoustics!
Private space for one-on-one consultations, studying, small group meetings (2 to 3 people)

September is among our favorite months of the year. Summer starts off still fighting, but leaves gracefully. The trees bare themselves. Coffee tastes even more delicious than usual, and being in a warm, supportive environment, armed with a cardigan and notepad, feels sublime.

Come see us - make an appointment today! And please do join us Sept 17th. As we wave goodbye to Summer and welcome Autumn, everything will feel so much richer if you join in!

PS: Did you hear we got a piano ...?

Do you play?

Piano teachers - yes, we'd love to rent to you for a great price.

Piano players - yes, ping us to schedule a private or public concert.

Folks, let's bring more music into our lives.

See you SOON!
